Gal Tahih
This work primarily explores the combination of traditional Chinese Mongolian culture—the fire worship ceremony—and women's liberation.
Fire is one of humanity's most ancient objects of natural worship, with many ethnic groups having folk beliefs related to fire and fire gods. For the Mongolian people living in the colder northern regions, the importance of fire is especially significant. The Mongolian "Gal Tahih" (Fire Worship Day) ceremony is referred to by the Mongolian people as cultural memory. The original gender of the "fire god" was considered female, which is associated with matriarchal clans in primitive societies and the fact that the earliest shamans were women. In the Mongolian shamanic fire god belief system, the fire god is also depicted as female, often referred to as "Fire Mother." Therefore, in my project, I aim to reflect women's clothing liberation and the emancipation of women's thoughts in today's social context through the lens of matriarchal clans in my clothing designs.
